Three weight terms cause most confusion when comparing trucks. They measure different things and should not be swapped.

GVW: gross vehicle weight

The maximum permitted weight of a rigid truck, including the vehicle, body, fuel, crew and load.

GCW: gross combination weight

The maximum weight of a tractor head and its trailer together, including everything they carry. It is the key rating for articulated trucks.

Kerb weight and payload

Kerb weight is the weight of the empty vehicle. Payload is the load that can be carried, roughly the GVW minus the empty weight of the vehicle and body. Chassis loading capacity is a manufacturer figure for the load the bare chassis and body can carry.

Body volume is not weight

A tipper body is described by its volume in cubic metres. A large body does not mean a heavier load is allowed, because dense materials such as wet soil or rock fill a body with far more weight than light materials.

Published figures and legal loads

A manufacturer rating describes what the vehicle was designed for. It is not automatically the load you may legally carry on Kenyan roads. Confirm limits with the relevant authorities before planning loads.
